Our light diffusing acrylic polymers meet the demands of lighting applications in the consumer, industrial, and office lighting markets. These light diffusing resins are available in both ACRYLITE and ACRYLITE PLUS grades.

ACRYLITE® df light diffusing acrylic polymers

Materials Finalist in the 2008 SPE Innovation Competition.

Where high lighting efficiency as well as excellent hiding power is desired, ACRYLITE df polymers provide added value in performance and reduced lighting costs by allowing higher lighting capacity at the same energy level, or equivalent lighting capacity as traditional pigmented diffusers at lower energy levels.

These compounds are used in:

  • Office lighting diffusion panels or covers
  • Lighting globes for outdoor lighting applications
  • Decorative and HID (high intensity discharge) lighting systems.

ACRYLITE df compounds offer increased lighting efficiency with a 20-40% increase in light transmittance versus pigmented products. They are offered:

  • With different concentration levels
  • In different grades
  • Customized to meet specific end-user equirements (including ultraviolet absorbers and/or internal lubricants; in transparent colors)

ACRYLITE PLUS® zdf impact light diffusing acrylic polymer

For superior light diffusion, excellent outdoor durability, and three times more impact strength than standard acrylic ACRYLITE PLUS zdf polymer is ideal for:

  • Outdoor light fixtures
  • Panels, displays
  • P-O-P applications

Impact modified ACRYLITE PLUS zdf polymer allows higher light transmittance and output ratios than conventional pigment-diffusion polymers.  It achieves this high level of light transmittance by incorporating high molecular weight polymer beads with a different refractive index into the acrylic. This results in an even distribution of light transmitted through the acrylic, and a:

  • 30% greater light transmittance over white pigmented light diffusing acrylics through a 1.5mm molded part
  • Only 3.6% reduction in transmittance (compared to 15%-20% reduction for conventional polymers) for a 3.0 mm molded part
