Presentation on Acrylics for Automotive Applications and Designs to be Given at Auto EPCON
CYRO Industries’ Technical Manager to Give Talk on Acrylic-based Materials and Designing Use in Automotive Trim Applications
PARSIPPANY, N.J. – April 4, 2008 – A presentation on advances in acrylics for automotive trim applications and designs will be given by Peter Colburn, Technical Manager, Molding Compounds, CYRO Industries, a subsidiary of Evonik Degussa Corporation, at the upcoming SPE Automotive Engineering Plastics Conference (Auto EPCON). The conference will be held on Tuesday, April 22, at the Best Western Sterling Inn, Sterling Heights, MI.
The presentation will focus on how acrylic is being used in Non-Transparent Automotive (NTA) applications and provide tips on how to effectively use acrylic in automobile designs. Among the applications highlighted in the presentation will be rear spoilers, roof components, rear shield, body side and step side moldings, pillar covers, and exterior mirror housing. In addition, Colburn will discuss an innovative heat-reflecting technology, CoolTouch™, designed to enable dark automotive parts to reflect heat.
Colburn has 26 years’ experience in the plastics industry. During his career, he has worked with leading manufacturers to develop acrylic products for a variety of applications. Colburn joined CYRO Industries in 1985, and has held a variety of positions in CYRO’s technical and manufacturing operations. He has directed product development functions in both acrylic sheet and molding compounds products. Most recently, his efforts have focused on the company’s molding compounds business, as Technical Manager, Methacrylates - North America, where he manages the product development and technical service functions.
