Methacrylamides
Combinations of methacrylamide and the acetal-modified methacrylamides are recommended as functional monomers for resins which crosslink on exposure to heat. Low formaldehyde emissions can be adjusted (-> bonding of textile wadding). On its own, methacrylamide acts as a polar comonomer, e.g. for improving resistance to solvents and for better cohesion. A special application is the grafting of methacrylamide onto natural fibres (-> silk weighting).
